Luneve blinked at his reply, somewhat suspicious but didn't press the matter. Checking on the herbal soup, she thought about what he was subtly asking. There was no way she could say no, just the thought of someone Onca's age wandering around out in the city yanked at her heartstrings.
Glancing over her shoulder at him, the redhead smiled, "You can stay here with me if you like. It's just myself and my pets here. They shouldn't cause any problems, but...um, don't try to scratch Cin under the chin until he's used to you."
Speaking of her pets, Luneve let the soup finish cooking as she pulled out the things she needed to make their breakfast. Part of her was quite surprised that Flita hadn't dive-bombed her yet with questions about the visitor and squeals of being hungry or that Cin hadn't tried to bite off any of his owner's toes yet to hurry up getting his meal. Maybe she was lucky and they were still asleep.
Putting the now prepared food into the designated bowls for her pets, Luneve thought of something else. She looked up at Onca somewhat apologetic, "The thing is, I work nights so I sleep most of the day. Just be careful about how much noise you make okay? I have some time off later this week so I can help you look for that friend of yours."
She gave him a smile, eyes now alert for any sign of her pets. Food always seemed to bring them out.

Onca knew she would eventually ask this question, but he wasn't expecting the solution she presented. He began to reply with a hint of thankfulness at the solution, but didn't get beyond the first letter of what he was about to say. A thought came across his head. A very strong thought. What if he didn't go back so quickly. He had only ever lived in the rebel hideout. He was very limited on what he could do there, because of rules and simply because it was an underground city. He loved the people there but this gave him the opportunity to do what he wanted. He would be free from rules and hopefully he would be able to heal someone instead of assisting the rebel healers.
Onca looked away from Luneve as his tail perked up and stated, "I actually do have a way home. I have a friend that will be coming back to the palace. He didn't go to the ball, but incase anything went wrong he was supposed to come a week later... That is if there was anything that could go wrong. You know its not like Im in any group of secret rebels or anything." Onca paused starting to lose track of his train of thought. "Unfortunately, I have no where to stay until that week is over."
His plan was perfect. After a week of time he could find somewhere else to go and from there... from there he would find something to do, it didn't matter what happened. In the end he knew he would find some way to help a hospital or some other healers. After he had his fun and games, he could always find someone from the rebels. Just at the ball he had seen many people who were part of the rebels without ever staying in Jok.

His sudden stiff posture, the way he seemed frightened by that simple question told Luneve more than any verbal answer he could have given her at that moment. She continued on with what she was doing, filling a pot with water and setting it to boil with the prepared herbs inside. The neko girl shrugged off-handedly at his question, "Oh just the herb stall. I'm great friends with the woman who runs it. I asked her for advice on your ailment."
Seeming to realize something, she turned to Onca with a light smile, "Don't worry. She's an expert with herbs, remedies, and cures, but half the time she can barely keep the date straight. She's damn good with money too..."
That last part was a mumble, more to herself than her guest. Stirring the pot slowly, Luneve lightly cleared her throat to go to another subject, "Onca, do you have a way to get home? My boss might be able to help, but knowing her, she got wasted at the ball last night and won't be up until sometime late this afternoon due to the hangover."
It wasn't a ploy to get information out of him. She was honestly concerned if he had a way to get home safely.

Onca breathed deeply for a moment. He walked into the kitchen following Luneve who had barely even reacted to his outburst. He wanted to scream, but not at Luneve. It was starting to dawn on him that the real one he was angry at was Daren, the emperor of darkness. He was the one who brought everything that was going on right now. Him and his father, Enzadi. Onca had seen more injuries that had to do with a mission or something related to fighting the Darkness than anything else. He wished that the healers in Jok could be used for more joyous reasons such as birthing babies. The darkness was the reason that the light was confined to an underground ruins.
"Onca...you're part of...a special group....aren't you?"
Onca froze. He couldn't think anymore. Not about a response. Not about what Daren had done to his friends. He couldn't do anything. He had no one to ask what he should do either. He was told that above everything he should make sure that no one knew that he was part of the rebels. If someone were to find out, everyone would be at risk. He could be used as a hostage held for ransom by Daren himself. The only ransom that he would want would be Aina herself and they all knew darkness would rein forever if something were to happen to her. She was the last light and hope.
Onca stared at Luneve and tried to change the conversation. He couldn't let her know. "Where did you go?"

Although happy he was feeling better, Onca's words cut deep. She stayed quiet, letting him vent. When he stopped, Luneve spoke softly, "So I was wrong. No one can always be completely right Onca...and you simply asked me why he would be throwing the ball. You never mentioned you thought he was up to something."
Motioning for him to follow her, she went back into the kitchen and placed the bags on a counter. Moving around to get out the needed items, she continued, "But as far as I can tell, we were the only ones who got sick. Maybe it just affected us because we are nekos. We might not have even been the real targets."
Now going through the preparations to make the herbal soup, the redhead slowed in her chopping, hesitant to say this next bit, "Onca...you're part of...a special group....aren't you?"
She glanced up at him, sad that someone so young had to go through that. Luneve didn't dare come outright and say he was part of the rebels, for this was the slums and one could never know who was listening.

Onca responded "Yeah, Im fine". He didn't even know if that statement was really true, but he didn't want to cause concern. He wrapped his tail around his upper body in an odd way just to stretch it out some. He wasn't sure what to do.
The first wave of realization finally hit him. He was with an almost complete stranger miles away from home and he had no way to contact anyone. How was he ever going to find his way home again. He didn't even know his way back to the palace, much less his way back to Jok. Even if somehow a miracle happened and he found a way to get back to Jok with the other rebels then he would never be allowed to leave again in case something like this were to happen again.
His tail slowly unwrapped itself from Onca's body. He needed to get his mind off of the what if and start to focus on something different. His thoughts drifted back to the food at the masquerade. Onca now had something to prove his point. "I told you the emperor was up to something. Drugging his guests. You cant say he was doing that for information now can you?" His words were harsh with unwarranted anger. "If the people of Lapiths knew about this, they would never support him. He is a fiend and shouldn't be ruling. He is nothing but pure darkness. When the light begins to shine again, he will have no place to hide."
Onca stopped. He wasn't sure what drove him to say this. Luneve had done nothing to him, but he still felt an anger towards her. He had no reason to have this feeling though, which is why he stopped speaking.

While Onca was bathing, Luneve rifled through her dresser and closet, finding something decent for the boy to wear. After putting them on the bathroom counter, she returned to the kitchen and cleaned up the puke. She shook her head as she did so, wondering what had happened. She herself already felt better, but Onca was still clearly sick. The smell of something burning caught her attention and she realized it was the bacon. With a squeal she dashed to the kitchen sink, hurriedly washed her hands and quickly rescued the slightly burnt pieces.
Sighing at that, Luneve made a plate for Onca once everything was finished and set it aside for him, a small fire charm keeping it warm. She ate her own quietly, thinking on what to do. An idea suddenly smacked the back of her head and the neko felt like an idea for not realizing it sooner. Making sure everything was all right (Cin and Flita were asleep somewhere or at least she hoped they were), Luneve yanked on her boots and left her small apartment with determination in her step. At the last minute she remembered to grab a bandanna to hide her ears and a large, long coat to hide her tails.
Arriving at the market, she went straight to the herb stall. The old woman there smiled pleasantly at her, knowing her from previous visits. Luneve smiled back but by-passed their usual small talk to get to the heart of the problem. The woman listened to her description of the symptoms, nodding to herself. After Luneve was finished talking, she gave her several small bundles of herbs along with instructions on how to prepare them. The neko thanked her profusely, about to pay for the herbs before she realized she'd left her wallet behind. The old woman had chuckled and waved it off, saying a slice of strawberry cake would do just fine later. Luneve promised to bring her that cake and returned home, where she found Onca waiting for her in the living room.
The redhead greeted him with a smile, "Hey Onca, feeling any better?"

Onca glanced at the bath which return his gaze to him with a slight reflection. Then looked back at Luneve who was already out of the room. He hesitated but eventually allowed himself to get into the bath.
A while later, he got out, dried himself off and found that Luneve had snuck some clothes into the bathroom without him knowing. He tried on the pants which had a slit in the back for his tail, and found that they actually fit fairly well except for how long they were. The shirt however didn't fit well and was much too large for him.
Leaving the bathroom, Onca re-entered the kitchen. Luneve had been in there at one point, but wasn't there at the time. Onca wasn't sure what to do. It appeared that she had left some breakfast out for him, but his appetite still hadn't returned to him. He cautiously took a piece of bacon and started to nibble on it.
Unable to stomach it, Onca put the bacon down and went into the living room. He sat down and waited, really having nothing to do. He would wait until Luneve found him.

The redhead smiled at her companion as he sipped his tea. He was quiet this morning, probably still waking up. Casting a glance back at the food, the sound of vomiting startled her. Looking back at Onca, Luneve gasped at seeing him on his knees on her kitchen floor. Putting her cup on the counter, she went to kneel at his side, rubbing his back. Luneve shushed him as he started to rapidly apologize, "It's alright Onca, I should have known better. C'mon, let's get you cleaned up."
Helping the small boy to his feet, she lead him through a different door into her bedroom. Glad that there was nothing out to cause embarrassment for either of them Luneve steered him into her bathroom and let him sit on the toilet. Turning the water on in the tub, she let it run for a minute to get warm before putting the stopper in the drain. While waiting for it to fill up, she got a wash-cloth from the tiny linen closet in there. Soaking it in cool water from the sink, the redhead turned back to Onca and gently rubbed it on his face. She felt his forehead while doing this, muttering to herself, "You don't seem to have a fever, so that's good."
Noticing the tub was ready, she turned off the facet and looked at Onca, "Here, you can get cleaned up. I'll find something for you to wear. I should have something."
Giving him a reassuring smile, she stood to leave, "Don't worry about the mess, I'll clean it up."

Onca stood still for a moment before being motioned into the kitchen. As he entered, he realized something. Luneve was a neko just like him. The only difference he noticed was that she had two tails as opposed to his one. Onca was about to say something but stopped himself. What difference would it make. She obviously already knew he was a neko. Instead he just stood.
Onca's tail twitched, though it was still tied to his leg and barely moved. At that point a pain shot up his tail. It had been forced to hold still for too long. He leaned down and untied it. That at least gave it a little freedom, though it was still bound by his pants. When he came back up he heard Luneve talking about breakfast. The thought of eating right now sickened him.
Soon after she asked if he wanted some tea and offered him a cup. He gladly accepted it. Unable to bring forth conversation, Onca simply sipped it. It had something in it that lessened the pounding in his head. Grateful, Onca took another sip that was more like a gulp. His stomach rebelled at this and rejected it, along with the contents of his dinner the night before. As he puked Onca fell to his knees and dropped the tea.
After he had finished and took in a few gulps of air. Onca started gibbering out apologies to Luneve. He felt horrible. She had only done nice things to him, and in return he puked in her kitchen.
Caeco Lapiths News + The Emperor of Caeco Lapiths had died of old age, leaving his child in charge of the land.
+ Darkness shrouding Caeco Lapiths seems to grow stronger and denser, Light seems to be fading.
+ Rebellions are occurring, the few members of the Light are fighting to keep their sparks of hope alive.
+ The first attempt on the Emperor's life has been made, the guard in the castle is in an uproar, though on the streets of New Mayhem it's being covered up so the people don't worry.
+ The second attempt on the Emperor's life has been made, and now those who lurk in the underworld are aware of this and joining sides with the Rebels. The tensions are rising.
+ The princess was brazenly attacked in the streets the other day, luckily she had an escort and the palace Mage, Frost managed to stop the madman from injuring her. He was captured and is being held.
+ The princess hasn't been seen in a while, it is speculated that the madman from the other day kidnapped her from the very palace he'd been he was being held captive in. No news of her condition or randsome information have been released to the public.
